Cooking With Cricut Design Team - 1st Project

Sweetest Day DT Inspiration Card
***NEWSFLASH***

This is another piece of information that I've been holding in since September 27th.  I was accepted to the Cooking with Cricut Design Team.  That was the second of three pieces of scrapping good news I received in one day.  I was about to explode.  So...now comes the day when we can share our creations with you.  The lovely Melin over at Cookin with Cricut does wonderful work and decided it was time to take her blog to the next level.  So I am a part of her inaugural Design Team and I am so honored.

This week the theme for her first challenge is Sweetest/Love Day which is October 16th.  She offered the wonderful elephant cut files that you see on my card.  Now, I had a difficult time making this card only because of course, I had to make a card for the DH.  Now...(sidebar) my DH is this rough dude that doesn't like anything girlie except on me. I couldn't think of a great design at first for him. I asked him what his favorite colors were.  He drew a blank and as long as I've known him, he's never had any.  Guess what his response was. I don't know.  I don't think I have any.  Go figure. So, here is the design that I came up with using a piece of patterned paper that I thought was a bit masculine but lovey dovey.

The elephants are about 4 inches tall completed so they take up quite a bit of space. I used sponges and stamp pads is ink the edges and add some detail.  I don't have chalks so I worked with what was available. The pearls are simple adhesive pearls that I shaped into a bracelet and necklace.  There's even one for an earring.  What girl doesn't look cute in her pearls.  I used cardstock from the Recollections paper pack.  The patterned paper was from my stash.  I believe (don't quote me) it is from K&Company.  I cut the elephants and plates for layering using my Sure Cuts a Lot program. I used my Zig Zag pen and ATG to piece the elephants together.  The hearts were pop dotted at different heights for added interest.   The final card dimensions are 8.5 x 5.5 inches.  I really hope he enjoys the card.

Happy Scrappin'!
