Day 266 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Happy Saturday!  I'm back with another card for 365 Cards.  I've been trying to finish this month.  Being ill on Thanksgiving has not helped my cause.  I'm hanging in there though.  We were to follow this sketch posted on the website and include a bit of vintage flare.  As I said, I haven't felt the best but I did attempt to produce a card for the challenge.  My thinking was that I should stick as close to the sketch as possible.  Here is my take.  I even tried real stitching.  I can't believe it!  The final card is 5"x7".  The solid colored card stack is Recollections and the patterned paper is Pleasant Pearls from 29th Street. I trimmed the flap which was cut from the Forever Young cart with my new Signo gel pen.  The I popped a button that has hemp tied through it on there.  For the lines at the bottom, I put a string of pearls and a lace-like piece paper cut with a scalloped punch on the bottom.

Day 267 - Vintage Plus Stickpin

Ok, so, I like I'm so out of my element.  I don't think I've ever done "vintage".  It's just not my style.  Well, this week at 365 Cards, the style is vintage. So, I guess, this is a real challenge for me.  Today, as the title says, it's vintage + stickpin.  I created a 5 x 5 card for the challenge using the sketch from The Paper Players that I saw on Janice's blog for this card.  (I needed inspiration bad ya'll.) Well, my first challenge was, I didn't have any stickpins so what's a girl to do?  If you know ANYTHING about me, I'm frugal.  I kept looking around until I found some jumbo paperclips.  I stretched one out, and cut two pieces of it using my wire cutters.  Yeah!!! First part down.  Then, I took some adhesive pearls and adhered them to the wire.  I thought there would be problems, but it worked perfectly. The based and layer are cut from Recollections cardstock.  The rose patterned paper was a RAK from a former co-worker.  I have no idea where the paper came from.  The other patterned paper is by 29th Street Market.  It's called Pleasant Petals.  I cut the scalloped border using a MS punch. I added pearls and distressed the edges with tea dye Distress ink.  The emblems are from the Home Accents cartridge.  I didn't have lace or any other ornate item so I used the Cricut to make what I needed.  I finished  the card off with a flower which was stained with ink, ribbon, and a bow.  I hope you enjoy my stretch of the vintage style.  Enjoy!

Oh......I almost forgot to mention, on the inside is my first real shot at using the MS punch around the page punch.  The paper didn't link up exactly but I guess it turned out ok.

Day 265 - Super Stretchy Saturday

We were to take and make something stretch.  Now, after 4 kids, I don't want to think about ANYTHING stretching.  LOL!!!  I took my digi and my greeting and stretching them making them disproportionate.  I colored and cut them out.  I hope this meet the requirements.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my challenges for this week.  I hope you enjoyed them.  Happy scrappin'!

Day 264 - Fun Folds

So, today they challenged us to make a card that was a tri-fold card.  I looked for my instructions but could not find them.  This is one of my favorite cards to make and I had all the information in one place.  Since I've moved, it's moved.  Bummer!  I went with another recipe so it was a little challenging because it didn't have all the details like my other recipe.  I made what I believe to be a simple Christmas card.  Enjoy!

Day 263 - Imagine Naptime

This challenge was all about naptime.  Because I'm a mommy to 4 kids, a wife to 1, I own a business, I scrap, I work part-time, a home manager, care for a daughter who battles autism, I'm pulled in SEVERAL different directions.  Sleep eludes me on many days.  So, I rest in knowing that when I do lie down, because I pray that God honors His Word, my rest is complete.  So, I placed this reminder scripture on my card.  "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," Matthew 11:28.  Now go get some rest people.  Enjoy!

Now this was fun!  I knew what I wanted to do, but as you can see, I'm rushing to post my cards.  That's because I am just getting off the road and didn't have access to any scrap materials this weekend.  That's when I get most of my work completed.  So, since everything lately has been Thanksgiving, Fall, or Christmas, I decided to put a spin on things.  This is somewhere that I'd like to be at this time.  So, the front of the card is the inside of a cruise ship or my personal boat (as if), the inside left is the outside of the board (S. S. Bonner), and the inside right is the island that I am looking at from the boat.  I drew the to the best of my abilities and used the Destinations cart for the palm trees.  Enjoy!

Day 260 - Just a Fraction

This challenge stumped me at first.  I didn't think that I could come up with a way to use just a fraction of TWO stamped images.  This is what I came up with.  I'm quite pleased at the finished card.  This is a cute image form Di's Digi.  Isn't she cute?  And, I'm not a fan of cats.  The stamps in the corners are parts of other stamps.  At first I inked the stamp, but the ink pad was NO good so I went over it with my white gel pen.  There is a glare in the upper corner and I'm not sure why.  There is nothing on the card so please forgive me.  Now that I am looking at the card, I think I'll do some doodling tomorrow.  I'll upload an edited version afterwards.  Enjoy!

Day 259 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Happy Sunday! We were to create a project based on this sketch.  I decided to play with my new alcohol inks (stained my cutting mat in the process) and see what I could come up with.  Here is my masterpiece.  JK!  Enjoy.

Day 261 - One Stands Alone & Stamping Sisters in Christ

Happy Thursday!  I must say that I truly enjoy the challenges over at 365 Cards AND at Stamping Sisters in Christ.  Well...today I was able to combine the two into a wonderful card that I like a lot.  At 365 Cards, the challenge is to use one and only one color (besides black and white) on a card, include a stamp or digi, 2 embellishments of the same color, and NO patterned paper.  At Stamping Sisters in Christ the challenge was to either 1. Make a CAS (clean and simple) card (representing "you" needing to decrease); or 2. Make a "More is More" card, (representing that He must INCREASE); or 3. Show us a simple version of a card and then show us the "More is More" version.  This card was to be based on the scripture of the week which is John 3:30.  I do believe these challenges go nicely together and I chose to do the CAS card (not a lot of fluff).  Enjoy!

Hey everyone.  My father-in-love busted his knee running. I said it was chases my mother-in-love around the house.  LOL!!! Well...we want to wish him a speedy recovery so I made this card.  It reads, " Wishing shoe a speedy recovery."  The B on the tennis show is a for his brand of shoes with his last name.

Day 250 - Challenge Combo

For Day 250 over at 365 Cards, you were to pick a challenge from the months of August, September, and October to combine into one new challenge. I selected Day 166 - Ad Inspired from the month of August (the first picture is the ad), this sketch from Day 203 for the month of September, and Day 255 - Pick 3 from October (3 patterns, 3 colors [blue, yellow, & green], & 3 embellishments).

Day 251 - Fall with Flourish

Here's the final card for this week.  I hope I have enough time.   Blogger wasn't cooperating, computer, and camera.  Can a Sista catch a break.  Well, I already know that this is not one of my best cards and that it will go into the reject pile and salvaged for scraps.  No really...I'm going to break it apart to make another card better than this one.  The base is from Wild Cards.  The leaves are stamped and the sentiment is heat embossed and says thank you.  I added pearls and doodling to finish it off but I think I got too happy. 

Whew!  Done with that.  I'll post one more time tonight and hopefully that will be it. I'll post a better pic of this card too!  That's aweful.

Day 248 - Ad Inspired

Hello.  Here's ANOTHER card for 365 Cards.  If you haven't seen their blog, you really should check it out.  I enjoyed this challenge and thought about it all week long.  I wanted to incorporated not just the color of the ad but the elements in the ad.  My card is a simple thank you card that uses three flowers, the colors of the ad, and the similar placement of elements.  The flowers are from the Serenade Cricut Cartridge.  To draw in the two side black elements, I stamped brackets and heat embossed them.
