DOG gone FUN Blog Hop - **CLOSED**

Happy Friday and welcome to the DOG gone Fun Blog Hop hosted by Haidee. In fact, if you've arrived from her blog then you're in the right place.  If not, then head on over by clicking HERE so that you may enjoy all the creations that my blog hop sisters have created from the beginning.

Haidee organized this hop to bring awareness to the idea of rescuing dogs from bad situations and allowing them to bring love into our hearts and homes.  I personally don't have a dog at this time, but I truly love them.  While growing up, I have the pleasure of the company of a dog named Sam, a Doberman Pincher named Champ, a black Labadore Retriever, and a Rottweiler named Princess von Young. All of them touched my heart and life in some why.

Princess, was my dad's dog.  When my dad died, my mother who was deathly afraid of her managed to gather the strength to go and sit on the back porch and talk to Princess.  Princess had not eaten since dad died and mom was concerned about her.  My mom told her, it's just me and you.  From that day forward until Princess died, she took great care of guarding the house and providing mom with much needed company.  I truly can't wait until I am in the position of getting another one.

My project today is a simple card.  We have a daughter who battles autism.  I've been researching the benefits of acquiring a service dog for her.  When talking to my daughter, who struggled immensely to express herself verbally about a dog in general, she rattled off that her dog would be brown and her name would be CeeCee.  I was amazed and excited.  That was the fuel that I needed to dig deeper and try to locate an organization that would be willing to assist us in the quest to find a suitable dog for Danita.  We still don't have a dog, but we will hopefully make a little girl's wish come true.

I made this card to give to Danita when are finally able to get a dog.  I truly hope you enjoy it. The recipe is listed under the card.

***BLOG CANDY ALERT***
Sherry and Haidee have graciously donated items for my blog candy.  I have a doggie embellishment set and an 11 piece stamp set for one blessed commenter. Please leave a method of contact in a internet safe manner.  Unfortunately, this is only available to U.S. hoppers due to shipping cost.  I hope you understand.  I will select a winner on Monday, Septemeber 19, 2011.  If you have won a prize from me in the past, I will be shipping out all prizes next week.  Things have FINALLY settled down for me quite a bit.

Now be sure to come back tomorrow as I am the guest artist for Zeni, at the end of this month for more blog hopping action, and next month as I celebrate my birthday. There's a lot that will be happening and you don't want to miss out.  In fact, I'd love if you became a follower or subscribed via email.

Well...that's all folks. Happy scrappin' and remember, I love you and ain't NOTHING you can do about it.  Now head on over to see what Princess Penelope has for your enjoyment today.

Hi, Christel! Your story really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I'm a huge animal lover and I'm always amazed by stories like yours. I hope you're able to find just the right dog for your daughter. My next door neighbors have an autistic daughter and they adopted two little dogs for her. They have done wonders to help with her ability to communicate and they are not even trained service dogs. Best wishes to you and your family.

It is great that you can share your experiences even tho you currently do not have a dog. I know my Tank "mournes" when I am gone overnight somewhere and refuses to eat..They know who loves them..It was good that your mom could reach out and ultimately be able to share one of your dad's favorite things.

Christel,

I am so touched by your story of your daughter and the need for a service dog for her. One of the teachers at my school works with children and service dogs. I will talk to her about you and see if I can get some information and maybe some help for you.
Your card is just so sweet. The little dog is adorable and the the sentiment is perfect.
I have three little dogs and one is a rescue dog. Thank you so much for helping to spread the word about resucing animals.

What an adorable card! Good luck in your search. Have you considered a dog from the Humane Society. Sometimes an older dog will have the manners and temperament you might be looking for. Love to win your giveaway as I'm working on a scrapbook of our dog to give to my daughter.

Hi! I want to strongly strongly encourage you to go to your local animal shelter this very week and adopt an animal(Dog, cat, or rabbit_ right away for your daughter with autism. I have three children (grown), one with severe autism and one with severe cerebral palsy, unable to talk except for symbol boards. I tried to get a service dog but my son with cp was too severely disabled to qualify (crazy but true). SO I took a leap of faith, went to the SPCA and chose a happy, joyful dog who became the light of all of my children's lives. I did teach Julia to act like a service dog, but really all she needed was to be her happy self and that healed my sons and daughter more than anything. DO choose a dog who doesn't bark his head off and do choose one who seems calm and relates well to people. Your heart will tell you the right one, and I suspect so would your daughter. Please don't wait, you won't regret it. I say this and at the time of getting Julia, I was not a so called dog person. Julia loved us all and I sure am a dog person now. God's blessings to you and your daughter and family.

Sorry this was so long but I mean it with all my heart.

Aw, what a sweet card! I love it and love how you twisted the ribbon like that. Cool idea! I would love to see you adopt a dog for your daughter. I have a chronic pain illness and have three dogs that keep me company since I'm no longer able to work. I'm home all day by myself so it's wonderful to have the doggies. I don't know what I would do without them! Anyways, thanks for sharing your story, your project and the chance to win some goodies! :0)
