Cooking With Cricut - Birthday Theme

Happy Wednesday!  Many of you are fighting the weather.  Please be safe and stay warm.

Today at Cooking With Cricut, we're celebrating BIRTHDAYS!  It's extra special for me because today I'm celebrating one cute little 6 year old's birth this morning.  My project is a banner I made for Caleb.  I used one of his favorite colors, brown.  Big shout out to Raven with Love 4 Stamps on her tutorial on making the pinwheels.  Her tutorial is super easy to follow.

He's seen his banner already and was overjoyed.  For real.  It was too funny.  I heard from read his name and then spelled.  That was followed by a big THANKS MOM.  I hope you like it too.  Ingredients are listed under the picture.

Our sponsor this week is none other than Peachy Keen Stamps.  I'm excited about this prize and wish that I could participate and win.  But I can't so I guess you'll have to have all the fun!  So, enter for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to PKS.

Melin has even provided some sketches to follow if you choose to do so.  Using the sketch is NOT required but can be solely for inspiration.

Birthday Card - PKS Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday!  My friend Raven at Love 4 Stamps challenged me to participate with her in the PKS Sketch Challenge this week.  We put our own twist on the challenge and here is what I came up with.

My youngest son's birthday is Wednesday.  What would a birthday be without a handmade card?  So, here's what I've created for the little man.  I used a digi from Beccy's Place which I colored with my colored pencils and highlighted with the Bic Mark-It markers.  The full recipe is under the card.  I hope you enjoy it!  Happy Scrappin'!

FEBRUARY - Calendar Blog Hop

Happy Tuesday and welcome to the 2011 Calendar Blog Hop.  Today through the 30th we are featuring layouts that we hope will inspire you to create an album to chronicle your family's journey through 2011.    We have some amazing crafters who are sharing their LOs with you.  I hope that you will follow all the way to the end.

“The Grand Prize Blog Candy is a brand-new Designer’s Calendar Cartridge, donated by Karel at One By One The Flamingos Are Stealing My Sanity. In order to be eligible to win, you need to leave a comment on each and every stop on the hop with a way for her to contact you. She will choose a winner by random.org on the 31st and announce it on her blog, as well as contacting the winner personally.”  Please leave your email safely.

Now...please accept my sincere apologies.  I traveled to Charlotte to spend Christmas with my Mom and my sister.  I have everything laid out for my return on the 27th.  However, the 27th is Monday and not Tuesday.  UH!!!!  So, I am off a day.

Please bare with me.  As soon as I return on Tuesday, I am going to upload the pictures of the layout.  You can choose to come back or leave a comment now to be entered into the grand prize drawing. I will have a small surprise pack for one commenter.  You don't have to be a follower to win but I do enjoy making new friends and promise you won't be disappointed if you do. The winner will be selected using Random.org on January 1.  The winner will have one week to claim the prize so be sure to come back and see if you won.

Also, starting in January 2011, I am planning on hosting swaps.  If you'd like to participate, you will need to be a follower.  My blog will be the main way I communicate updates and notices concerning the swaps.
Now on to my project for the hop...I selected the month of February.  For my layout, I choose the main colors of black, white, and red. There are some interesting holidays and events in the month of February.  My left page highlights some of these holidays as well as three photo mats that can be used to mount pictures of events that occur in the month.   On the left is a calendar that created using my new Gypsy.  I even included a rabbit for the Chinese New Year and a groundhog for Groundhog's Day.  I used the following Cricut cartridges to complete this project - Camp Out, Cricut Classic Font, Cricut Sampler, Cuttin' Up, Destinations, Sesame Street - Elmo's Party, Gypsy Wanderings, and Mini Monograms.  I have even included a flower I created following the wonderful tutorial by my wonderful friend, Melinda at Scrapbook Eden. She has some phenomenal tutorial.  I believe that's it.  If I get back and find out I didn't cover everything, I'll be sure to update the post.

If you get lost on the blog hop, here are the links to all the bloggers who are participating.
